The Salmon Sisters

Emma Laukitis and Claire Neaton—fishermen & businesswomen

"Salmon Sisters is about the community of women who are connected to salmon in Alaska."

Who's afraid of fish blood...on your face? Not Emma Laukitis and Claire Neaton. For these commercial fishermen sisters, celebrating the rough parts of their job is a way to keep it real, and remind us where our food comes from.

For Emma and Claire, the lessons came early. Growing up on a homestead in the Aleutian Islands taught them to be self-sufficient, and gave them an exciting free-range childhood in one of the most remote and pristine places on earth. Salmon Sisters is their business: part wild Alaska-caught fish, part ocean-inspired apparel, and 100% supported by an all-women team. The company is a way for Claire and Emma to share responsibly sourced seafood and highlight the precious resources needed to bring wild salmon to the plate. When you buy Salmon Sisters flash-frozen fish, or Emma’s artwork on a t-shirt, you are helping support Alaska’s working waterfronts and fishing communities.. Salmon Sisters gives 1% of sales to the Give Fish Project, which donates wild Alaska seafood to the Food Bank of Alaska. Emma and Claire's connection to their community runs as deep as the sea, which connects them to each other and the world. "Fishing has given our family all of our opportunities," Emma says. "We are so fortunate." Follow the Salmon Sisters @aksalmonsisters.
